Event Topic: Cohesion: Connecting the dots

In the world of Business Analysis and Business Architecture, surprises are not usually a
pleasant experience. The expression, ‘the main cause of problems is solutions’, is
apparent to all of us who work in these spaces. As we conduct more and more
complicated analyses and generate growingly complex designs, we can become our
own worst enemies as we try to get it right while changing fast. Are we stuck with this
dilemma, or can we be better prepared to get it right faster the first time? One factor we
can strive to get a grip on is the knowledge of how the pieces fit and the impact of
changes in any domain on the others before we build out capabilities only to be faced
with shocks later when its costly and late. Principles and practices of Business
Knowledge Cohesion are essential for all business analysis and a foundational tenet of
Business Architecture work so we can avoid unwanted and unanticipated
consequences of the changes we are charged with.

  • The fact and challenge of complexity
  • Simplifying understanding
  • What are the dots?
  • Knowing what’s connected to what
  • What do you have to do before you dive in?

This session will be an interactive discussion among all attendees to search for better
ways to make a difference that matters.
